Blog #2 – My Student Blog 

Hey! I liked how you obviously put a lot of thought into which resources you are using for your learning resource, and that you wanted to make sure students are actually engaging with the content. I remember being in high school myself and being uninterested in math because I didn’t understand its applications, and think that making real world connections is a great way for students to stay engaged and interested!

Hi Max! 

Great blog post, thanks for sharing your personal experiences with the transition from high school learning to university! I can certainly relate with what you said, I think that in high school the content was easier so I was able to get away with just rewriting notes, memorizing formulas and steps, and learning to solve problems with muscle memory and pattern recognition rather than genuinely understanding concepts. Obviously this did not work for me in university, as I recall failing every single physics midterm I took in first year before learning effective study techniques to actually understand the material. I agree with your point on instructors providing diversity in resources for students to learn from, I tend to do best in classes where I am offered support, examples, and different types of learning tools.

Hi Dilraj,

I really relate to what you said about how you learned a lot from youtube compared to lectures, and your commentary on how watching a video isn’t the same as actually learning from it. I also agree that most of my learning comes from the interactions afterwards, I’ve found that videos are a powerful tool to introduce myself to new subjects or concepts, but do need to be supplemented with interaction, and think your implementation of video in your course sounds promising and effective.
